Artist To A Fault Blog Launches On 'Unofficial Clive Barker Day 2009'

Hi, I'm Ricky, artist of the sweet drawing you see pictured above, starring Lt. Abigail Black, my favorite character from the video game Clive Barker's 'Jericho'. As you can see from the big gun and glowing energy hand, she's an expert sniper who also wields telekinetic powers. The great thing about having those two abilities, is Black can fire a shot from her rifle and then guide the bullet's trajectory with her mind. She can also move piles of rocks out of doorways. That's not quite as badass, but the first thing is real cool and a lot of fun in the game, ya gotta love Clive. And that brings us to the relevance of today's sketch.

I've dubbed today 'Clive Barker Day'. All day I've been watching, reading, and playing everything Clive Barker in anticipation of the SyFy-exclusive premiere of 'Book Of Blood', the new film based on his short story. I'm very skeptical since it's the same short story that simultaneously made me fall in love with reading and realize that, as I'd been told my whole life, some things really can't be done on the video screen. We'll see how it goes tonight at 9pm est. Aside from the guy who drew the cool sketch and loves him some Barker, from here on out, you'll also know me as the writer of this blog.

The Artist To A Fault blog was created partially as a place to collect all the random stuff I write about on other sites, so expect music, movie, & video game related rambling. The other purpose of the blog is to house and document my creations, and maybe even enhance the speed and frequency at which they are created out of a self-conscious desire to not look bad in front of whoever follows this. My goal is to post a lot of sketches and artwork, but as the blog title suggests, that may prove difficult. I have this idea to do a topical sketch for each blog I write, just like today. The chances of that lasting are very slim, but I'd love to make it happen.

I'll also be posting updates and snippets of the music I'm working on, which you can get a taste of on my music myspace. I'm constructing what I like to call an album, but per everything else I create, in my own very unorthodox way. As of yet there's no release date in sight but I believe steady progress is being made. If that all sounds boring to you, I'm sure there will be a few surprises thrown in there as well. Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more of my thoughts and work.
